I knew Patti since first grade. Not only was she sweet, but very smart. I still have memories of the double-date to the Turtle Hook 9th grade Prom with her and Lee Petry. Reconnected with her on Facebook- she always said I should move to where she was in Florida when I complained about the weather on LI. Patti- you will be missed!
Joey and I were "cousins" (yes, we called him "Joey"). We started life together in Astoria because both our dad's grew up as best friends together there and began our families there. Our families went on vacations to the Catskills together when I was around 3 or 4. When his family move to Uniondale, we soon followed. We always got together for family functions (birthdays, graduations, etc.) and holidays such as Christmas and New Year's. Joey introduced me to the joy of comic book collecting (he had a massive collection) and the Boy Scouts. I have too many memories to put on this page. Suffice it to say, losing him was considered by my family as losing a family member. Now both our sets of parents are together with him in heaven.
